Starting your own fashion business is an exciting adventure but it’s important to be aware of some of the key challenges that you might come up with whilst setting up.

There are 5 key factors to consider:

What is your niche / speciality and who are you selling to? You need to make sure that what you are offering has a need in the market. Finding a niche in the market is the best way to see a faster success rate and interest in your product.

Branding– Having a business is like creating a little human. It needs to have a name, a face, a personality. So take sometime and research your competitors and work out how you position yourself. Invest in a branding expert that can help create that identity. We have worked quite closely with Beetle Creative in the past in capturing our image.

Suppliers–  Nothing is more important then working with reliable suppliers. Suppliers can make or break your business as they can effect timing and production lead times. Spend some time researching, request sampling and double check all quality. Quality is your brand and you don’t want this to be tinted.

Get yourself out there- You need to sell your product somewhere. Create an online shop, list your products on other online stores. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket and test different markets to see what works best for you.

Feedback- Spend time surveying your clients to get their feedback on the product and possible improvements. In business you are always learning and improving.
